The Golden Rule

The Golden Rule“Do unto Others as you would have them do unto You.”

Pope Francis quotes the Golden Rule in his speech to the United States Congress yesterday.  This statement is beautifully depicted in the famous mosaic by American artist Norman Rockwell and is housed in the United Nations building in New York where the Pope spoke to the United Nations General Assembly today.

In his speech to Congress, Pope Francis guides us to respond to one another with “hope and healing, peace and justice.”

“Our efforts must aim at restoring hope, righting wrongs, maintaining commitments, and thus promoting the well-being of individuals and of peoples.  We must move forward together, as one, in a renewed spirit of fraternity and solidarity, cooperating generously for the common good.”
